PHILOSOPHY OF CARE

My approach to therapy is largely Humanistic-Existential, Client-Centered and Cognitive-Behavioral, while my skills are grounded in Somatic, Psychodynamic, and other evidence-based therapies. I believe in creating an open, non-judgmental space to bring compassionate awareness to the complex and painful aspects of life. I believe that all people are capable of creating the change that they desire in their lives.

My work is built on the foundation of collaborating and empowering my clients to achieve their goals and will structure therapy based on the unique needs of each client, which allows for a truly individual and integrative therapeutic experience. I primarily work with adolescents, adults, elders and families and have experience with providing trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based practices, and behavioral therapy that allows for an inward to outward mobilization of change. I work to foster a collaborative environment of sensitivity, warmth, and humor.

WHY THERAPY?

Therapy can be a helpful tool in assisting you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and others. In therapy you can gain new skills to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. I will walk beside you as we explore prior attachment wounds and traumas that may have been left unhealed, hindering you from achieving the relationships or the efficient movement that you would like in your life. I believe that some of life’s greatest challenges can be the ripe opportunities needed for further growth. In Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents, Lindsay C. Gibson writes, “Most psychological growth exposes some distressing truths about what we've been doing with our lives. Psychotherapy and the like are aids to help us become aware of truths we already know in our bones.”
